1200 - One Hour Lunch and Social Mixer

Skippers and boats arrive — Use this time to find the boat you want to sail aboard. Skippers - pick the crew you want to take.

(Note: The experienced skippers and crew are welcome to attend the morning lecture, but just attending the social hour and race is quite acceptable.)

1330 - Start of Practice Race

This will be an approximately ¾ mile leg, windward-leeward race. There will be no scoring. The purpose of this race is for the participants to experience a race ready boat in racing conditions and understand the maneuvers. Interaction via explanations of what is happening by the host crew and questions by the guests are key to understanding the techniques and decisions made.

Skippers — bring your old sails and only enough crew to sail the boat. The participants can play minor roles with supervision and that will increase the value of their experience. Talking through each maneuver and explaining what is going on and why you are doing it will greatly enhance the experience. These are people who have a basic understanding of what you are trying to accomplish and most know how to sail. The more you can safely involve them the better.

Students — be clear about what you are comfortable doing and what you are not comfortable doing. Do not over state of understate your experience. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

1600 (estimated) - Return to Main Room
